About MAQ
Multicultural Affairs Queensland (MAQ) is responsible for providing advice on multicultural issues, coordinating multicultural policy development and planning across the Queensland Government and promoting positive community relations through the Minister for Multiculturalism, The Honourable Lindy Nelson-Carr MP.
Queensland's cultural diversity is of economic and social benefit to the State. It encourages an environment that supports and rewards participation in the cultural, social and economic opportunities that Queensland offers. It also necessitates the delivery of flexible, culturally appropriate and client-focused services by government agencies to ensure equitable access to programs and services by all Queenslanders.
Multicultural Affairs Queensland co-ordinates whole-of-Government implementation of the Queensland Government's Multicultural Policy by developing strategies and providing advice to government agencies on the best way to deliver programs and services to a culturally diverse society.
Multicultural Affairs Queensland also administers grants programs and promotes harmonious community relations.
