Queensland Multicultural Awards

The Queensland Multicultural Awards recognise people and groups whose outstanding efforts over a sustained period have helped promote multiculturalism, support new migrants and increase community awareness of the value of multiculturalism.

The Minister for Communities and Multicultural Affairs, Lindy Nelson-Carr announced the winners of the 2008 Queensland Multicultural Awards at Parliamentary Annexe, Brisbane, on Wednesday 26 November.

The Minister also acknowledged the 2008 Queensland Multicultural Champion and Multicultural Achievers.

Queensland Multicultural Awards background
The awards recognise and celebrate the people and organisations who help promote and support multiculturalism in Queensland.

Queensland Multicultural Award categories
Individuals and groups will be awarded across five categories: Individual, Community-based Organisation, School, Business and Government.

Multicultural Champion
The Queensland Multicultural Champion is an award to recognise a prominent Queenslander for their public support of multiculturalism.

Multicultural Achievers
Multicultural Achievers are prominent Queenslanders from culturally diverse backgrounds who, through their profession, have made a significant contribution to Queensland.
