Red Card racism today!

Queensland Roars Against Racism is a campaign being delivered by Multicultural Affairs Queensland and Brisbane Roar FC that aims to send positive messages in support of harmony and social cohesion and to make it clear – there is no room for racism in Queensland. The initiative was launched in 2007.

The campaign's slogan and call to action is Red Card racism today!

Research shows that increasing the level of interaction among people from different cultural backgrounds increases mutual understanding and reduces prejudice so, more broadly, the campaign aims for all Queenslanders to recognise themselves as part of a rich and diverse community.

Over the course of partnership there will be a range of events and activities in support of the anti-racism message, targeting the whole community and especially young people to challenge racist attitudes and stamp out racial intolerance.

Using sport and other organised activities the strategy focuses on breaking down barriers created by ignorance, fear and prejudice by providing opportunities for our diverse community to come to together to foster a sense of belonging which increases social acceptance and decreases the sense of isolation.

Generating an increased sense of community, belonging and pride and a shared understanding of what it is that defines us as Australians fosters a society in which cultural diversity is not only respected but valued.
