Queensland Roars Against Racism - Red card racism today!

Queensland Roar FC beat Brazilian champions Palmeiras 3 – 1

The Queensland Roars Against Racism campaign is a joint three-year initiative between Multicultural Affairs Queensland and the Queensland Roar FC announced on 22 February 2007.

During the next three years a range of events and activities will be staged to challenge racist attitudes, stamp out racial intolerance and make it clear that there is no room for racism in Queensland.

The Queensland Roars Against Racism campaign received a high profile boost in 2007 when local heroes Queensland Roar defeated South African Premier League team SuperSport United in a special anti-racism match at Suncorp Stadium on 1 July.

Queensland Roar FC red carded racism again on 12 July when they played Brazilian team Palmeiras in a pre-season match at Suncorp Stadium, as part of the ongoing Queensland Government’s Roar Against Racism campaign.

The Roar beat Palmeiras 3 – 1, taking out the Translink Cup for the second year in a row.

Palmeiras are one of the most popular football clubs in the Brazilian Championship or, as the Brazilian’s call it, the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.
