Queensland's Abrahamic faiths were a united front achieving positive outcomes at the Abrahamic Faiths Forum at Parliament House in Brisbane on 7 February 2007.
Almost 200 religious representatives, community leaders and government representatives shared experiences and positive dialogue that would ultimately result in building a greater understanding of each other within the broader community.
Some of the recommendations included:
- Greater interaction between young people from the three faith groups – the Christian, Islamic and Jewish women's groups agreed to host a function.
- Improve relationships and increase contact between the leaders and grassroots members of the faiths groups.
- Engaging in joint action to resolve critical social issues including climate change and human rights.
- Teaching non-violent communication to young people.
Sandy McCutcheon, noted ABC broadcaster and author, facilitated the day long event.
