National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters
The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is the national standards and accreditation body owned by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments of Australia.
NAATI manages the testing and accreditation of translators and interpreters in Australia. It also serves the community by providing industry advice, consultancy services and skills training for people who use interpreters.
When using interpreters and translators, it is advisable to use those who are NAATI accredited to ensure they have the necessary skills and credentials.
Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS)
The Australian Government's Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) provides both telephone and on-site interpreters. State Government agencies can arrange interpreting services for clients by telephoning TIS on 131 450 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators Incorporated (AUSIT)
AUSIT is the professional association for translators and interpreters in Australia.
International Association of Conference Interpreters
The International Association of Conference Interpreters is the worldwide association for conference interpreters.
Deaf Services Queensland
Deaf Services Queensland provides Australian Sign Language Interpreters (AUSLAN), as well as after hours emergency interpreting services.
National Auslan Booking and Payment Service (NABS)
The National Auslan Interpreter Booking and Payment Service (NABS) provides interpreters to Deaf and hard of hearing people who use sign language and would like an interpreter for private medical appointments, and is free of charge for Sign Language users and medical and health care practitioners.
