About this site

Welcome to the website of Multicultural Affairs Queensland.

Ways to find information

Search instructions:
Type a word or phrase into the 'Search' field at the top right hand corner of the screen and press the 'Go' button for a quick search of all documents on the Multicultural Affairs Queensland site. The search term used should be a standard search term, and should only use natural language words. The search engine does not support any search operators (such as *).
Site map:
Pages in the website are organised into sub-categories, which may be nested to many levels due to the volume of information. The site map displays these nested categories, shown with + alongside. Clicking the + expands that category showing the levels below.

Drop-down menus:
At the top of the page are the drop-down menus. Click on a menu item to move to that area of the site. The drop-down menus are always available within the main area of the site, so there is no need to return to the home page in order to move to a different part of the site.
Sidebar navigation:
Pages in this website are organised into categories, which may be nested to many levels due to the volume of information. At any point in the site, the sidebar will display the categories below the current one (shown with + alongside). Clicking a category name will open it, to show the documents within, along with links to any categories further below. At the top of the sidebar is the name of the current category, plus a link to the category before it.
'Breadcrumb' navigation:
To determine your location in the web site, look at the text below the drop down menu bar in the upper-left area of the page. Listed here are the categories that lead to your current location. It's also possible to use this feature to navigate back through the categories - to move to a category, click its name.

Printing documents

Printing a page using the internet browser's print function will also print the menu bar and sidebar, which may take up unnecessary space on the printed page. However, there is a "printer friendly" view of documents that overcomes this problem. The 'Printable' link in the top menu opens the current page in a new window, without the title area and sidebar. This page may be printed using the browser's print function. Once printing is complete, the new window may be closed.

Converting PDFs to text

Some PDF documents can be converted easily into text by Adobe's PDF to text conversion tool. This tool allows people without the Adobe Acrobat program to open the document.

Alternative formats

Some publications are available by request in a range of alternative formats. For more information, contact Multicultural Affairs Queensland from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday:
